Manchester, NH (February 5) – Saint Anselm's "Big Three" of Thomas Baudinet (Watertown, CT), Allen Harris (Roslindale, MA), and Jack Keough (Owego, NY) combined to score 59 of the Hawks' 78 points as Saint Anselm cruised past Merrimack 78-56 Saturday afternoon at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. With the win, the Hawks improve to 16-5 overall and 12-5 in the Northeast-10. The Warriors drop to 10-10 overall and 6-10 in the NE-10.
After a loss to Southern New Hampshire University Thursday night in which they scored a season-low 54 points, the high-powered Hawks offense made sure to get back on track at home. They shot 52% from the field for the game, and are now 9-0 playing on Al Grenert court.
Wayne Mack (Paterson, NJ) led Merrimack with 13 points. However, the Warriors offense was stifled for most of the game as the Hawks jumped out to an early lead, ending up on top by 14 at halftime. The two teams split the season series, with Merrimack winning on their home floor 94-78 earlier this year.
Baudinet also achieved another career milestone as his 17-point effort put him over the 1,800 point barrier. The senior now has 1,816 career points and is fourth on the Hawks all-time scoring list. He trails his assistant coach, Jim Moore, by 97 points.
Saint Anselm plays host to NE-10 leader Bentley this Tuesday. The Falcons handed the Hawks their first loss of the season back in November, 83-53. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm. You can also catch the game between two of NE-10's best teams online at www.saintanselmhawks.tv.
