Manchester, NH (February 3, 2001) - Megan Howard (St. Paul, MN) recorded another double-double and this time, it was enough to help secure the game with a 55-54 win over the Southern New Hampshire Penmen at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
The win moves Saint Anselm to 6-10 in the NE-10 and 9-11 overall. The Hawks played an aggressive, fast paced game against the crosstown rival. The score was tied 6 times and the lead changed 11 times as both teams went head to head throughout the entire contest.
The teams left the floor at half time at 23 points each. At the conclusion of the second half, Saint Anselm edged out SNHU 32-31 in points scored, resulting in a 55-54 win for Saint Anselm. A close, intensly played game by both squads.
Epiphany Smith (Springfield, AR) scored a game high 23 points with 2 rebounds and a steal with freshman Meg Morrissey (South Kingston, RI) with 7 points, but an impressive 4 steals the last of which sealed the game for the Hawks.
Curren Leighton (Dover, NH) had a solid performance, but fouled out with 1:43 in the game. Kellianne Josephsen (West Caldwell, NJ), who had several significant minutes during the first half, replaced her and finished the game with an outstanding defensive effort.
The Hawks return home on Saturday, February 5 at 1:30 PM to face Merrimack, now 7-7 in the Conference.
