Colby Puts a Damper on Saint Anselm Senior Day 5-2

Manchester, NH (February 19, 2011) – Tom McGinn (St. Albans, VT) scored a pair of goals and Colby triumphed over Saint Anselm 5-2 at Sullivan Arena Saturday afternoon.  The loss is the fifth straight for the Hawks, with four of them coming against NESCAC competition.

Billy Crinnion (Long Island, NY) scored just 38 seconds into the first period to set the tone for what would be another frustrating day for the Hawks.  Saint Anselm was down 2-0 before Ryan Holley (Owings, MD) potted his fifth goal of the season with just 1:14 remaining in the first period, cutting the deficit in half.

Paul Snell (Groton, MA) would notch the equalizer less than three minutes into the second period, but that would conclude the scoring for the Hawks.  Colby responded with a pair of late goals from McGinn and Chris Buonomo (Edison, NJ) to take a 4-2 lead at the second intermission.  McGinn's second of the game finished things off midway through the third.

After having some recent success on the power play, Saint Anselm was unable to take advantage of some penalty troubles against the Mules.  The Hawks finished 0-for-5 with the man advantage, with Colby goaltender Cody McKinney (Weston, FL) stopping all seven shots.  Saint Anselm finishes their ECAC East/NESCAC schedule with a 7-9-2 record, good for 6th in the conference.  Colby ends their regular season at 11-10-2 overall and 10-7-2 in league play.  They await their seed in the NESCAC tournament.

Saint Anselm takes the ice for the final time during the regular season Thursday evening against Stonehill College.  The Northeast-10 showdown will set the final pairings for the conference tournament as the Hawks look to defend their NE-10 title of a year ago.  Log on to athletics.anselm.edu for more information regarding playoff matchups and times.
