Saint Anselm Closes Out Regular Season with big win over Stonehill
Manchester, NH – Ten different players scored goals and Saint Anselm erupted for a 4-0 lead early in the first period and never looked back, finishing the regular season with a 12-3 win over Stonehill. Coleman Noonan (Norfolk, MA) and John Hyslip (Andover, MA) led the way with a pair of goals each. The Hawks end the year as the #2 seed in the Northeast-10, earning a first round bye.
Joe Tabano (Glastonbury, CT), Mike Richard (Derry, NH), Ryan Butler (Arlington, MA), Tyler Savage (Carrolton, TX), Paul Snell (Groton, MA), Jim Toomey (Billerica, MA), Steve Mollo (Saunderstown, RI), and Nick Rossi (Smithtown, NY) also potted goals for Saint Anselm. Rossi and Hyslip each recorded their first goals of the season as part of the rout.
The Hawks held possession for most of the game, outshooting the Skyhawks 36-21. In addition to the wide number of goal scorers, Nick Wheeler (Nashua, NH) added four assists for Saint A's. Stonehill came back near the end of the first period with a pair of goals to cut the Hawk lead to 4-2, but were outscored 4-1 in the second period as Saint Anselm ran away with the game.
Saint Anselm will play host to the best remaining seed in the Northeast-10 tournament next Wednesday. That game will be played against either #3 seed Franklin Pierce or the winner of the #4 Assumption/#5 Stonehill game at 7pm in Sullivan Arena.
