MANCHESTER, N.H. – Despite senior Charlotte Tencza's (Greenfield, Mass.) 12 kills in only two sets of action, the Saint Anselm College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-19, 25-18, 25-12) to Adelphi University Friday evening at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The Panthers improve to 18-7 overall on the season and 11-3 within the Northeast-10 Conference. The Hawks fall to 8-17 overall and collect their 11th conference loss of the season (3-11).
Tencza posted a team-best 12 kills, including eight in the first stanza. Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) accumulated a team-leading 25 kills, serving as Saint Anselm's primary setter on the evening. Defensively, Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Calif.) collected eight digs cumulatively on the evening.
Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) totaled five digs with only two errors on the evening in three sets. Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) led the Hawks with a .273 hitting percentage, hammering home four kills while making only one error. Shannon Douglas (Rochester, N.H.) came off the bench to provide four kills, including a team-best three kills in the final set.
For the Panthers of Adelphi University, Haley Blunt led the team with eight kills to her credit. Erika Loomer set up 19 kills of her own while adding three kills for a .429 hitting percentage. Defensively, Bianca Hernandez added 15 digs of her own. Patawe Simms and Bree Popham recorded two service aces apiece.
The Hawks return to action Saturday, Nov. 5 as they host conference-rival Pace University in a 12:00 p.m. contest in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium to close out their season.
