Dolphins Swim Past Hawks, 3-1

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Despite 10 kills by Lauren Ross (Dracut, Mass.) and her team-leading .333 hitting percentage, the Saint Anselm College volleyball team fell to the Dolphins of Le Moyne College by a 3-1 final (20-25, 25-13, 25-8 and 25-10) Saturday afternoon.  With the victory, the Dolphins improve to 15-10 overall on the season and collect their fifth Northeast-10 Conference victory of the season (5-7).  Saint Anselm falls to 7-16 and 2-10 within the conference.

The Hawks posted a first-set victory in their third straight game, beating out the Dolphins 25-20 in the first set.  Ross posted six of her first 10 kills within the first stanza without making an error.  Defensively, Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Calif.) contributed five digs in the loss.  Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) and Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) combined for a block apiece in the first set victory.

The remainder of the contest was dominated by Le Moyne, who outscored Saint Anselm 75-31 in the final three sets.  Charlotte Tencza (Greenfield, Mass.) posted six kills in the final three sets, but the team made 21 of their 23 total errors in the final three sets.

Cumulatively, Ross led the team with 10 kills to her credit.  Steinwart dished out 29 assists in the contest and both Tencza and Tereschuk tied for the team lead with eight digs apiece.

For the Dolphins, Allison Hebel led Le Moyne offensively with 17 kills alongside only two errors.  Megan Maisonet assisted 40 Dolphins kills and Bethany Fabian contributed defensively with 15 digs.
