Oldfield Pots Two As Hawks Edge Falcons 2-1

MANCHESTER, N.H.
– Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping, N.H.) scored both of the Hawks goals Wednesday evening as the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team defeated the Falcons of Bentley University by a 2-1 final score under the lights at Grappone Stadium. With the victory, the Hawks improve to 2-8-2 on the season and 2-6-2 within the Northeast-10 Conference. The Falcons fall to 4-8-1 on the season and remain winless in their last six contests.

Oldfield scored her fifth goal of the season on a penalty kick at 28:10 of the first half. A Hawks player was upended by a Bentley defender within the box, creating the penalty kick situation. From the line, Oldfield fired the ball into the right side of the cage past Falcons goaltender Nicole Derba for the Hawks first goal of the game.

Only 4:27 following her first marker, Oldfield struck again for her sixth goal of the season at 32:37 of the first half. Sprinting ahead of the play, Oldfield received a long feed from Jessica Ewald (Smithtown, N.Y.) at the top of the box and scored while remaining onside.

Bentley scored their lone goal of the contest at 72:31 of the second half as Patty McAllister scored her third goal of the season. Chelsea Owens fired a ball on net that was knocked down by Hawks goaltender Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.). The rebound spilled out to McAllister who nudged the ball into the open net for the score. The goal was Bentley's first since Sept. 24 against Merrimack College.

Primera collected her second victory of the season, halting eight-of-nine shots on goal. Derba did not make a save in the contest, allowing two goals on two shots on net.

The Hawks return to action this Saturday as they travel to Lowell, Mass. to face-off against the River Hawks of UMass Lowell in a 1:00 p.m. contest.  Stay up-to-date with the latest news, including game previews and recaps, directly from the Saint Anselm College athletic department by friending us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/STAHawks) and following us on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/STAHawks).
