Manchester, N.H. – The Saint Anselm Hawks
volleyball team played host to Northeast-10 Conference opponent
Stonehill College this afternoon. When the last point had
been scored, the Skyhawks of Stonehill defeated the Hawks by a 3-1
final. The loss drops the Hawks to 0-6 overall (Northeast-10, 0-2)
and raises the Skyhawks record to 4-6 (Northeast-10, 2-0).
The first set was closely contested and won by Stonehill 26-24.
Charlotte Tencza (Greenfield, Mass.) recorded five
kills in the set to lead the Hawks, while Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Cal.) added 12 digs
defensively.
The Skyhawks controlled and took the second set by a 25-16
final. Freshman Kylie Kozlowski (Quincy, Mass.)
had two kills, a service ace, and three digs to lead the Hawks in
the game. Saint Anselm came out into the third game looking much
stronger and won easily 25-16. Rachel Flaherty (Cold
Spring, N.Y.) tallied five digs and a kill.
The fourth set decided the match and was won by Stonehill 25-16.
Samantha Elliot (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied two
kills and one block.
In the match, Tencza had 12 kills to lead the Hawks. Flaherty
had 30 assists, while Tereschuk had 19 digs for Saint Anselm.
The Hawks will take the court again on September,
28th at Saint Michael's College. The match is
scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
