Worcester, Mass. (December 1) -- Senior forward Paul Snell (Groton, Mass.) scored four goals in the Hawks first Northeast-10 Conference game, winning by a 7-4 final over the Assumption Ice Dogs. Snell added an assist for a game high five points.
Snell got the Hawks on the board with just 1:19 coming off the clock in the first period. Tucker Mullin (Andover, Mass.) and Timothy King (Weymouth, Mass.) assisted on the goal, which was Mullin's first and King's third on the young season. Coleman Noonan (Norfolk, Mass.) scored his first goal of the year just a minute later on passes from John Hyslip (Andover, Mass.) and Alex Pascal (Blue Bell, Penn.). Mullin and Noonan added their second goals of the game later in the first period, and Saint Anselm took a 4-0 lead into the first intermission. Mullin and King assisted again on Snell's second goal.
Snell started the second period much like the first, scoring within the first two minutes. Mullin and King added their third assists of the evening on the score. Assumption scored its first goal of the game on a Sean Doherty (Walpole, Mass.) goal, making the score 5-1 in favor of the Hawks. The Ice Dogs added a second goal when Kyle Zobler (Millbury, Mass.) scored, cutting into the Hawks lead at 5-2, which the Hawks took into the second intermission.
Snell scored the Hawks first goal third period at the 7:28 mark. Once again, Mullin and King assisted on the goal. Facing a 6-2 deficit, Assumption's local player Patrick Fitzsimmons (Worcester, Mass.) scored twice with 5:28 and 3:28 remaining in the game to make the score 6-4. The Ice Dogs were forced to pull their goaltender to add a sixth skater, which the Hawks took advantage of. Mullin scored the Hawks seventh goal on passes from Snell and King.
Kevin Fairweather (Woburn, Mass.) made 24 saves in the game for the Hawks.
The Snell, Mullin and King line produced 15 of the Hawks 21 points in the Hawks victory, which improves their record to 1-2 and 1-0 in the Northeast-10. Saint Anselm will take the ice again this Friday at Connecticut College in an ECAC East showdown. The puck will drop at 7:00 pm.
