Easton, Mass. (October 9th) -- The Saint Anselm
Hawks men's soccer team traveled to Stonehill College this
afternoon to take on the Skyhawks in a Northeast-10 Conference
matchup. Justin Colella
(Wilmington, Mass.) scored a second half goal, but it was
not enough for the Hawks, as they fell 2-1. Saint Anselm's record
drops to 3-7-1 overall (3-4-1, Northeast-10), while the win
improves Stonehill's record to 5-4-1 (3-4-1, Northeast-10).
Stonehill jumped on the scoreboard early on a goal from
Jonathan Hope (Avon, Conn.) in the 20th minute.
Seven minutes later, the Skyhawks struck again, this time from the
penalty spot. Michael White (Lisbon, N.H.) scored
the penalty kick, making the score 2-0. Stonehill goalkeeper
Brandon McFarlane (Norwich, Conn.) held the Hawks
scoreless in the first half, making one save. Eric Moriarty
(Center Harbor, N.H.) made one save in the half for Saint
Anselm.
The Hawks got on the score sheet in the 73rd minute when Colella
scored his second goal of the season on a Joshua Rocco (North
Reading, Mass.) pass. The goal was the last in the game,
and proved to not be enough for Saint Anselm.
Moriarty made two saves in the game, while Colella and
Keesen
Howe (Norwich, Conn.) each had shots on goal for the
Hawks.
The Hawks take the field again tomorrow at home against East
Coast Conference opponent Mercy College. The game will begin at
1:00 pm.
