Manchester, N.H. (October 6th) -- The Saint
Anselm Hawks played at home tonight against Northeast-10 rival
Franklin Pierce University. Saint Anselm enjoyed a win in the first
game, but fell in the next three and lost to the Ravens 3-1. The
loss drops the Hawks to 1-10 overall (0-6, Northeast-10), while the
win improves the Ravens record to 8-5 overall (2-4, Northeast
-10).
Saint Anselm came out strong, with Kylie Kozlowski
(Quincy, Mass.) tallying four kills as the Hawks went on
to win the set 25-18. Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo,
Cal.) led the Hawks defensively with 11 digs. Kyla
Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with a kill and
five digs.
Franklin Pierce went on to win the second set by a close score
of 25-22. Tereschuk and Gustavson each notched five digs in the
game, while Rachel Flaherty
(Cold Spring, N.Y.) had a service ace and nine
assists.
The Ravens went on to win the third set 25-8, with five digs
from Tereschuk and Gustavson.
The fourth and final set was also won by Franklin Pierce 25-22.
Flaherty tallied nine more assists in the fourth set, bringing her
match total to 29. Kozlowski led the Hawks with 10 kills and five
digs. Samantha
Elliott (Cumberland, R.I.) recorded eight kills and a
solo block. Tereschuk led the Hawks defensively with 32 digs.
The Hawks will take the court next Wednesday, October 13th to
take on Bentley on the road. The match will begin at 7:00 pm.
