Manchester, N.H. (October 23rd) --The Saint Anselm men's soccer
team was in action today to take on the Yellow Jackets of AIC.
Before the game, Saint Anselm honored two seniors, Kyle Faucher
(Northwood, N.H.) and Dave Hugel (Simsbury,
Conn.), on their accomplishments as Hawks. Saint Anselm
won the game 2-1, improving their record to 5-11-1 overall (4-7-1,
Northeast-10), with the loss dropping AIC's record to 6-9-1 overall
(4-7-1 Northeast-10).
The first half was played scoreless until, the 23rd minute
when Sean Stevenson (Holyoke, Mass.) put the ball
into the right side of the goal to give AIC a 1-0 lead. Hawks
freshman goalkeeper Mark Kotsopoulos
(Shrewsbury, Mass.) made two saves in the half. Keesen Howe
(Norwich , Conn.) took three shots, putting one on
goal.
Justin Colella
(Wilmington, Mass.) found the back of the net just 15
minutes into the second half on a cross from Brian Ayers (Potomac,
Md.) to tie the game at 1-1. Just six minutes following
Colella's goal, Maximilian Glebocki
(Wilbraham, Mass.) connected on a pass from Joseph
Ponticelli (Braintree, Mass.) on top of the 18-yard
box and gave the Hawks the game-winning goal.
The Hawks will play their final game of the regular season this
Tuesday at home when they take on Bentley at 3:30 pm.
