Manchester, N.H. (October 17th) - - On the road
this afternoon for their final non-conference game of the season,
the Saint Anselm Hawks men's soccer team played Queens College to a
1-0 win this afternoon. The result brings the Hawks record to
4-10-1 overall (3-6-2, Northeast-10) in the league. Queens record
now stands at 4-9-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the ECC.
The Hawks tallied five shots in the first half, two of which
came from freshman Brian Ayers (Potomac,
Md.). Freshman goalkeeper Mark Kotsopoulos
(Shrewsbury, Mass.) was forced to make just two saves.
Kotsopoulos kept Queens off the scoreboard, but the half closed
with Saint Anselm scoreless as well.
The second half was a different story. Justin Colella
(Wilmington, Mass.) scored his third goal of the season
just 1:05 into the period. Keesen Howe (Norwich,
Conn.) increased his Hawk assist lead to five assists on
the goal. The goal proved to be the only goal of the game, as
Queens managed just one shot on target in the second
half.
Colella's goal ties him with Joshua Rocco (North
Reading, Mass.) for the top spot on the Hawks goal leader
board this season.
The Hawks return to the pitch this Wednesday when they travel to
Franklin Pierce. The Northeast-10 Conference game will kick off at
7:00 pm.
