New Haven, Conn. (October 16th)- - The Saint
Anselm Hawks were on the road this afternoon to take on the
Chargers of New Haven. After the full 90 minutes, the Hawks found
themselves on the losing end of a 1-0 score, which drops their
record to 3-10-1 overall and 3-6-1 in the Northeast-10. The win
improves the Chargers record to 5-8-1 overall and 4-7 in league
play.
The first half was quiet, as neither team found the back of the
net. Saint Anselm put two shots on goal, while New Haven forced
Hawks goalkeeper Eric Moriarty (Center Harbor,
N.H.) to make just one save. Keesen Howe (Norwich,
Conn.) and Justin Labonte (Pembroke,
Mass.) each had a shot on target for the Hawks.
62 minutes into the second half, Austin Coleman (North
Haven, Conn.) lifted the chargers on top when he scored
the game-winning goal, this leaving the Hawks scoreless.
In the game for the Hawks, Howe and Michael Kearney
(East Bridgewater, Mass.) each had two shots on goal,
while Moriarty made three saves.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow to play their final
non-conference game of the season, when the travel to Queens
College. The game will kick off at 1:00 pm.
