Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hawks Fall to No. 9 Southern New Hampshire, 3-1

Manchester, N.H. (October 12th) - -The Saint Anselm Hawks men's soccer team was in action this afternoon against cross-town rival Southern New Hampshire University. The Hawks fell to the Penmen by a final score of 3-1, dropping their record to 3-9-1 overall (3-5-1, Northeast-10). The Penmen improve their record to 10-1-1 overall (6-1-1, Northeast-10) with the win.

The first half was controlled by the Penmen, as they outshot the Hawks by a 9-5 margin. The Hawks were unable to put a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes. Southern New Hampshire tallied their first goal of the game in the 32nd minute on a Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Eric Moriarty (Center Harbor, N.H.) made two saves in the half for the Hawks.

The Penmen added two more goals in the half, one by Christian Rodriguez (Manchester, N.H.) in the 62nd minute, and then in the 78th minute by Jon Brockway (Lebanon, N.H.) off a corner kick. The Hawks rallied and scored a goal of their own in the 84th minute, when Kevin Greene (Londonderry, N.H.) scored on a rocketed ball from about 35 yards away from the goal. Saint Anselm's rally came up short, and Greene's goal proved to be their only one of the match.

For the Hawks, Keesen Howe (Norwich, Conn.) put two shots on target, while George Lamptey (Worcester, Mass.) tallied three shots total. Moriarty made four saves in the game.

The Hawks will be in action again this Saturday, when they travel to the University of New Haven for a Northeast-10 matchup. The game will kick off at 1:00 pm.
