Manchester, N.H. (October 10th) - - The Saint
Anselm Hawks women's soccer team played in a Northeast-10
Conference game against No. 1 nationally-ranked College of Saint
Rose this afternoon. The Hawks found themselves on the losing end
of a 5-0 score. The loss drops the Hawks record to
3-7-1 overall (3-6-1, Northeast-10), while the win keeps Saint Rose
undefeated at 13-0 (10-0, Northeast-10).
The Golden Knights jumped on the score sheet quickly, scoring in
the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The goal was scored by
Sydney Bond (Deer Park, N.Y.) on a great pass by
Amanda Deck (Syracuse, N.Y.). In the
half, Saint Anselm goalkeeper Jackie
Cooney (Braintree, Mass.) made two saves.
The second half was controlled by Saint Rose from the beginning,
as the Golden Knights scored in the 46th minute, followed by two
goals in the 53rd. Brittany Godin (Rochester,
N.Y.) scored twice in the three-goal span for Saint Rose.
The Golden Knights got another goal in the 82nd minute by
Lindsay McQuade (Uxbridge, Mass.) to make the
score 5-0.
The Hawks take the field again on Wednesday, October 13th when
they travel to Bentley. The Northeast-10 Conference game is slated
to begin at 3:30 pm.
