MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint
Anselm volleyball team travelled to Orangeburg, N.Y. this afternoon
for a tri-match with the Dominican College Chargers and the
Philadelphia University Rams, dropping a pair of 3-0 finals to fall
to 3-4 overall.
After losing their first match of the season, the Rams (14-1,
4-0 CACC) have gone on a tear, and with their sweep of today's
tri-match, they extended their winning streak to 14 consecutive
victories. The Chargers (8-6, 3-2 CACC) split the tri-match,
defeating the Hawks in three games, but falling to the Rams in
four.

The Hawks began their day with a match against the Philadelphia
University Rams. The Rams, coming of a 3-1 victory over the
Chargers in the morning, played well and defeated the Hawks in
three straight games. Charlotte Tencza (Greenfield,
Mass.) had nine kills in the match and Stephanie
Devlin (Beverly, Mass.) had six. Rachel
Flaherty (Cold Spring, N.Y.) had 20 assists in the match
and just one error, for a .909 percentage.
After falling to the Rams, the Hawks looked to redeem themselves
in their second game. However, after putting up a strong
fight in the first game but losing 25-22, the Hawks fell by scores
of 25-17 and 25-14 in the final set games. Tencza led both
teams with 12 kills in the match, and Ashley Hopkins
(Wakefield, R.I.) was second on the team with five.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on
the Post University Eagles for their last non-conference match
until the end of October. The Hawks look for their second
consecutive victory over the Eagles, after defeating them 3-1 in
the Hawks' first match of the season. The match is scheduled
to begin at 1:00 pm.
