Hawks Shutout by UMass-Lowell

Lowell, Mass. (April 28)-The Saint Anselm College baseball team fell to the Riverhawks of UMass-Lowell 2-0 Tuesday afternoon at LeLacheur Park. The loss drops the Hawks to 15-28 overall and 10-17 in conference game, while the win improves UMass-Lowell to 24-15 on the year and 15-11 in league contests.

In the bottom half of the fourth inning, Riverhawk's first baseman Taylor von Kriegenbergh (Stoneham, Mass.) ripped an RBI single down the right field line scoring Peter Onorato (Clarence Center, N.Y.) who had earlier tripled.

UMass-Lowell added another in the seventh when Pat Devlin (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored on a double steal for the 2-0 NE-10 victory.

The Hawks, who had seven hits, was led by senior Ben Gunn (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) with his 2-for-5 performance in the loss.

Saint Anselm starter Sean Hayden (Haverhill, Mass.) took the loss going 6.1 innings allowing eight hits and the two earned runs in the loss. Riverhawk starter Ted Haley (Cranston, R.I.) went seven shutout innings allowing six hits to improve to 6-0 on the year.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow, April 29th, as they will travel to Assumption for a non-conference game starting at 3:30 p.m.
