Rindge, N.H. (April 18) -- The Saint Anselm
men's lacrosse team used goals from 11 different players on
Saturday afternoon as the Hawks cruised to a 16-5 win
over Franklin Pierce at Sodexho Field.
After leading just 2-1 after one period, the Hawks outscored the
Ravens 4-1 in the second quarter to take a 6-2 advantage in the
halftime break. Saint Anselm exploded for 10 second-half goals to
pull away for its sixth victory of the season and remain in the
hunt for a Northeast-10 Tournament Quarterfinal home game entering
the final week of the regular season.
Matt Surette (Wakefield, Mass.) and
Matt O'Connell (Charlestown, Mass.) led the way
with three goals each, while senior All-American candidate
Chris Murphy (Winchester, Mass.) had a pair of
goals, giving him 28 now for the season.
Dan Flynn (Wakefield, Mass.) made eight saves
in three quarters of play for the win in goal, while Pat
Acone (Bow, N.H.) turned aside seven shots in the fourth
quarter.
Saint Anselm is now 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the Northeast-10,
while Franklin Pierce falls to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the league.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, April 22nd when the team
travels to Saint Michael's for a 4 p.m. start.
