Manchester, N.H. (April 15)-The Saint Anselm
College baseball team fell to the Falcons of Bentley University 3-1
at Sullivan Park on Wednesday afternoon in NE-10 action. The loss
drops the Hawks to 12-18 overall and 8-7 in NE-10 play, while the
win lifts the Falcons to 19-16 overall and 10-6 in conference
contests.
The Falcons wasted little time getting on the board as
James Roche
(Arlington,
Mass.) singled home lead-off man
Charlie Pagliarulo
(Medford,
Mass.) for the 1-0 lead.
The game would stay that way until the bottom of the fourth
inning Saint Anselm would tie it up on Dan DeCoste's
(Chelmsford,
Mass.) RBI single scoring
Steven Panza
(Watertown,
Mass.). DeCoste would finish the
day a perfect 3-for-3 with that RBI after being put in at first
base in the fourth inning.
But it was Bentley's day, as they would add two runs in the top
of the ninth led by Roche's home-run to left field for the 3-1
Falcons win.
Jeffrey Donnis
(Hatfield,
Mass.) got the start going an
inning allowing one run on two hits. Senior Nick Barese
(Braintree,
Mass.) came out of the bullpen
throwing 7.1 innings allowing one earned run and striking out three
in the loss. Bentley starter Brett Fistes
(S. Deerfield,
Mass.) threw a complete game
seven hitter striking out six in the win.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow, April 16th, as they will
host New Haven for a 3:30 start.
