Anselm College men's hockey team dropped an ECAC East game to the
No. 12 ranked Lord Jeffs of Amherst College 4-3 at Sullivan Arena
on Friday night. The loss drops the Hawks to 8-12-1 overall and
5-10-1 in ECAC East play, while the win propels the Lord Jeffs to
15-4-1 overall and 13-2-1 in NESCAC/ECAC East action.
The first period had a total of five goals, including two within
the first 47 seconds by the visitors. Off the opening face-off

Mass.) took a pass from

Hawks cut the lead in half on a goal from sophomore forward
Ryan Butler
(Arlington,
Mass.) beat Lord Jeff's goalie
Jonathon Larose
(Boyle,
Alberta) to make it 2-1. At the
16:30 mark, Mike Baran
(Duxbury,
Mass.) extended the lead to 3-1.
Off the next face-off sophomore forward Coleman Noonan
(Norfolk,
Mass.) took a pass from
Joe Fernald
(Braintree,
Mass.) and Michael Adams
(Bedford,
Mass.) and beat the Larose top
shelf to make it 3-2 heading into the second period.
After the break Amherst controlled the period out shooting the
Hawks 13-4 and scoring the lone goal of the stanza by Luke
Arnold (Lincoln,
Mass.) which was shorthanded and
at the 12:47 mark.
In the final period the teams managed a combined 26 shots, but
the Hawks had the lone goal of the period by sophomore forward
Paul Snell
(Groton,
Mass.) on the power-play after
the Hawks pulled Fairweather for the six-on-four advantage.
After that the Hawks pulled Fairweather again, but could not
grab the equalizer as they skated to the 4-3 loss.
Fairweather made 37 saves in the losing effort, while Larose set
aside 25 shots in the win.
The Hawks hit the ice again, tomorrow, as they will host the
Continentals of Hamilton College at 4 p.m. at Sullivan Arena on
senior day.
