MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Anselm volleyball
team returned home this evening after a five-match road trip to
host the Southern Connecticut State University Owls in Northeast-10
Conference play. The Hawks only trailed by two or three
points throughout the majority of the first and second game, but
they were unable to reach 25, losing three straight to the Owls by
scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-9. The win lifts the Owls to
23-9 (9-6 NE-10), while the Hawks fall to 5-17 (1-12 NE-10).
Sophomores Charlotte Tencza (Greenfield, Mass.)
and Stephanie Mauer (South Hadley, Mass.) led the
Hawks, recording six kills and one block apiece. Mauer
committed just one error in the match, for a team-best .500 attack
percentage. Sophomore Rachel Flaherty (Cold Spring,
N.Y.) recorded 18 assists, and libero Kelly
Rudolph (Winter Park, Fla.) added 22 digs.
Owl senior Nekane Medizabal (Stratford, Conn.)
and sophomore Megan Lyons (Cold Spring, N.Y.) led
the match with 10 kills each.
The Hawks conclude their season with two home matches this
weekend. They will host the University of New Haven Chargers
on Friday, November 6th at 7:30 pm and then play their final match
of the season against American International College at 1:00 pm on
Saturday.
