Manchester, N.H. (November 6) -- In a hard
fought match on Friday evening, the Saint Anselm volleyball team
dropped a 3-0 final to visiting New Haven in Northeast-10
Conference play. The Hawks host American International on Saturday
at 1 p.m. in the season finale. Game scores were 25-21, 25-16 and
25-21.
In the first game of the match, the Hawks took a 10-9 lead and
extended that to 11-9 on an ace by sophomore Charlotte
Tencza (Greenfield, Mass.). New Haven rallied to tie the
match eventually at 18-18 and closed on a 7-3 run to take game one
by a 25-21 final.
After a 25-16 final in game two, the Hawks jumped out to a 12-9
lead in the third game before the visiting Chargers rallied for the
25-21 win to stay perfect in Northeast-10 play.
Tencza led the Hawks with nine kills and 12 digs, while
Kelly Rudolph (Winter Park, Fla.) had 13 digs in
the match. Tymika Duncan led New Haven with seven
kills.
The Hawks wrap up the 2009 season on Saturday, hosting American
International at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the Saint Anselm
volleyball program will recognize senior co-captain Kelly
O'Dea (Andover, Mass.) as part of Senior Day.
