Hawks Drop 1st Contest of 2009 7-0 to Pilgrims

Middlebury, Vermont (January 3)-The Saint Anselm men's ice hockey team dropped their opening game of the Middlebury Holiday Classic by a score of 7-0 to New England College on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Hawks to 3-2-1 on the year, while the victory improves the Pilgrims to 6-2-0 on the campaign.

For the Pilgrims, Aaron Harvey (Milford, Nova Scotia) had a shutout to grab his sixth win on the year. For the Hawks, all three goalies played one period highlighted by freshman netminder Brian Dowd's (Hamburg, N.J.) 12 saves on 13 shots.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow, January 4th, as they will play the loser of Middlebury and Curry at the Middlebury Holiday Classic.
