Henniker, N.H. (January 27)-The Saint Anselm
College men's ice hockey team dropped an ECAC East game to New
England College 5-1 at Lee Clement Arena Tuesday night. The loss
drops the Hawks to 4-9-1 overall and 3-7-1 in league play.
The Pilgrims struck first as freshman forward Niko Uola
(Turku,
Finland) took a pass from junior
forward Jeff Armando
(Canton,
Mass.) and beat Hawk goaltender
Alex Wyse (Amherst, N.Y.) for the 1-0 New England
College lead. Hawk sophomore forward Paul Snell
(Groton,
Mass.) answered with his sixth
goal of the year later in the first period to tie the game at one
at the first break.
After that it was all Pilgrims as New England College scored
four unanswered goals over the next two periods. Olli
Kalliosaari (Hattula,
Finland) netted two goals and
Johan Granath
(Stockholm,
Sweden) and Armando each scored
once for the 5-1 loss.
Wyse made 29 saves and allowed four goals in the losing effort,
while Aaron Harvey
(Milford, Nova
Scotia) set aside 28 shots in the
victory.
The Hawks return to the ice Friday, January 20th, as they will
host Norwich University at 7 p.m. at Sullivan Arena.
