Williamstown,
Mass. (January 24)-The Saint
Anselm College men's ice hockey team fell to the Ephs of Williams
College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks have dropped four
straight to fall to 4-8-1 on the season while the win improves
Williams College to 9-4-2 on the campaign.
The Hawks struck first at the 11:12 mark on a goal from
Paul Snell
(Groton,
Mass.) to give Saint Anselm the
1-0 lead. Senior captain Tom Kerwin
(Whitman,
Mass.) was credited with the
assist. Hawk sophomore goalie Alex Wyse
(Amherst,
Mass.) made 16 saves in the first
period to keep the lead intact for Saint Anselm.
Williams would own the game from the second period on, as
Brian Malchoff
(Avon,
Conn.) would beat Wyse to even
the game 1-1 at the 15:19 mark in the second period.
In the third period, Patrick Morrissey
(Pelham,
N.Y.) first goal of the season
proved to be the game-winner with just over eight and a half
minutes remaining in the third period.
The Hawks were out shot 42-29 in the game and Saint Anselm and
Williams combined to go 0-14 on the power-play.
Wyse finished the game with 42 saves in the losing effort, while
Ephs goalie Ryan Purdy (La
Jolla,
California) picked up his fourth
win of the season by making 29 saves.
The Hawks return to the ice Tuesday, January 27th, to face New
England College at 7 p.m.
