Flushing, N.Y. (September 3) -- After falling
behind 1-0 in the first half, the Saint Anselm men's soccer team
closed the game with three unanswered goals to pick up a 3-1 win
over Queens College in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon.
Ryuichiro Yasuda put the Knights up by a 1-0 score at the 20:28
mark as he redirected a free kick past Saint Anselm keeper
Hunter Wootten (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.). At the
30:50 mark, Keesan Howe tied the game at 1-1, with the assist going
to Steven Sousa (Dedham, Mass.). Less than five
minutes into the second half, senior standout Sam Lamptey
(Worcester, Mass.) found the lower right corner of the net
to give the visitors the lead for good at 2-1. Tyler
Sangster (Duxbury, Mass.) added the game's final goal 41
seconds later.
Wootten picks up the victory in goal, as he made four saves in
relief of Saint Anselm starter John Corridan (Holliston,
Mass.), who left the game in the 19th minute. Ivan
Salame took the loss for the Knights as he made two saves
in 90 minutes.
Saint Anselm stands at 2-1 overall and returns to action on
Saturday night as the Hawks travel to Merrimack for a 6 p.m. start
at Warrior Field.
