Colchester, Vt. (September 17)-The Saint Anselm
women's soccer team fought to a 0-0 tie with Saint Michael's
Wednesday afternoon at Doc Jacobs Field complex. The tie makes the
Hawks 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in NE-10, while the tie makes the
Purple Knights 3-3-1 and 0-2-1 in conference play.
Early in the first half, Purple Knight forward Laura
Ostrout (Northfield,
Vt.) had a chance to get the
Purple Knights out to an early lead, but shot one off the right
post.
In the second half, at the 73-minute mark, the Hawks had their
chance when sophomore Jennifer Pearl
(Stoughton,
Mass.) shot a penalty kick off
the right post.
In the second overtime, with one minute remaining, Ostrout sent
a cross to sophomore Katie Murphy
(Woodbridge,
Conn./Amity Regional) whose shot
sailed just wide. Both teams got off 11 shots in the game, with
Saint Michael's getting off the only two shots of the two overtime
periods.
Hawk goalie Jacqueline Cooney
(Braintree,
Mass.) set aside three shot in
the tie, while Purple Knight's keeper Ashleigh Adams
(Milton,
Vt.) registered five saves.
Saint Anselm returns to action Saturday, September 20th, as they
will take on Stonehill at Melucci Field at noon.
