North Andover, Mass. (September 14) -- On Day
Two of the Merrimack Invitational, the Saint Anselm men's soccer
team fell to Post University by a 2-1 final in non-conference play
at Warrior Field.
Post got on the board late in the first half as John
Pineda put home a rebound for the 1-0 lead. The Eagles
extended the lead at the 69:50 mark as Eurica
Trowers found the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage. The
Hawks closed to within a goal at 78:19 as Richard Simmonds
(Hooksett, N.H.) hit Giuseppe La Rocca
(Gloucester, Mass.) on a corner kick for La Rocca's
first goal of the season. The Hawks finished with nine second-half
shots, but were unable to get the equalizer.
Hunter Wootten (Westhampton Beach,
N.Y.) finished the game with six saves in the loss,
while Michael Aeschliman made six saves in the
victory. Saint Anselm is back in action at home on Tuesday,
September 16th as the Hawks play host to Saint Michael's beginning
at 4 p.m.
