Manchester, N.H. (September 13) - The Saint
Anselm women's soccer team grabbed its first conference victory of
the year with a 4-0 victory over Merrimack College at Melucci Field
on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Hawks record to 2-3-0
overall and 1-1-0 in conference, while the loss drops the Warriors
record to 2-1-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
The first half was kept scoreless by Hawk goalie

Mass.) and Warrior keeper
Shannon Rowan (Fair Haven, N.J.).
Saint Anselm started the scoring in the second half when
Mary Kate Heavey
(Medfield,
Mass.) scored off a corner kick
from Jennifer Pearl
(Stoughton,
Mass.) to put the Hawks up 1-0.
In the game's 65th minute, Teresa Vercollone
(Pembroke,
Mass.) took a crossing pass from
Pearl and fired it in the goal for a 2-0 lead. Five minutes later,
Pearl took a pass from Vercollone and made the score 3-0. In the
75th minute, Pearl added another to put the Hawks up for the 4-0
final.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday, September 17th,
against Saint Michael's in Colchester, Vermont. Merrimack
returns to action on Wednesday, September 17th, at home as they
will take on conference rival Bentley at 6:30 p.m.
