N.H. (September 10)-The Saint
Anselm women's Volleyball team lost their opening match of the year
to conference foe Merrimack College 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-12),
Wednesday night in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The loss makes the Hawks
record 0-1-0 overall and in conference, while the victory improves
the Warriors record to 2-3-0 overall, and 1-0-0 in the Northeast-10
conference.
For Merrimack, Ale Kuncaitis
(Canton,
Mass.) compiled 10 kills and two
blocks, while teammate Kristin Applegate
(Hampstead,
N.H.) drilled seven kills in
eight chances to hit .875 on the night. Elyse
Lorenz
(Frankfort,
Ill.) totaled 32 assists and
Alyssa Pickert (Tinley
Park,
Ill.) led the way with 18 digs.
For the Hawks, freshman Stephanie Mauer
(South Hadley,
Mass.) led the way with five
kills, while classmate Charlotte Tencza
(Greenfield,
Mass.) pitched in with three
kills and led the way with eight digs. Freshman Rachel
Flaherty (Cold Spring,
N.Y.) had 13 assists and three
digs in the loss.
The Hawks return to the court Saturday, September 13th as they
will take on Nyack College at 1 p.m. and Assumption College at 3
p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
