Bentley Avenges Tuesday's Loss to Hawks

Waltham, Mass. (April 17) -- Bentley avenged a Tuesday loss to the Hawks with a win on Thursday afternoon, 4-1, at DeFelice Field in Waltham, Mass. The win improves Bentley to 14-21, 9-11 in Northeast-10 play. The loss drops the Hawks to 12-20, 8-12 in league play.

Bentley hit for one run in the third, one in the fifth, and two in the seventh. On a Garrett Stenhouse sacrifice fly, Ross Curley scored in the third. Another Stenhouse sacrifice fly brought in Ricardo Sullivan in the fifth. Mike DeCoste scored on a wild pitch for the first run in the seventh, and Stenhouse scored on an error, as the Falcons took a 4-0 lead into the eighth.

The Hawks picked up their only run of the game in the eighth, as Ryan O'Rourke (Norwood, Mass.) singled home Ben Gunn (Vineyard Haven, Mass.).

Matt Stone (West Roxbury, Mass.) went the distance for the Hawks, allowing four runs, three earned, on 13 hits with three strikeouts, dropping his record on the hill to 1-4. Jarrod Marchesi picked up the win for Bentley, scaterring nine hits in a complete game effort, striking out six.

T.J. Murphy (Reading, Mass.), Adam Hussey (Danvers, Mass.), and Gunn all had a 2-for-4 day at the plate for the Hawks.

The Hawks are back in action tomorrow, hosting UMass Lowell at 3:30 p.m. at Sullivan Park.
