Worcester, Mass. (March 29) -- After jumping
out a 7-0 halftime lead, the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse team
cruised to a 10-4 road win at Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference
play on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the half behind two goals
each from Steve Trocki (Braintree, Mass.) and
Chris Murphy (Winchester, Mass.) and extended that
lead to 10-1 after three quarters. The Greyhounds scored two goals
in 11 seconds and added another with 24 seconds left to account for
the 10-4 final.
Murphy led the Hawks with three goals, while four different
players found the back of the net for the Greyhounds.
All three goalies played for the Hawks, with freshman
Pat Acone (Bow, N.H.) picking up the win after
making six saves in 47:16. Chris Bird made 14
saves in the loss for the Greyhounds.
With the win, the Hawks are now 5-3 overall and 3-1 in
Northeast-10 play, while Assumption falls to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in
league action. Saint Anselm is back in action on Saturday, April
5th as the Hawks host Le Moyne for a league game at Noon.
