Hillburn, N.Y. (March 2) -- On Sunday
afternoon, the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse team defeated Dominican
by a 19-7 final in non-conference play at the Torne Valley Sports
Complex.
The Hawks jumped out to a 9-1 halftime lead and never looked
back as the team rebounded from a loss to Adelphi on Friday night.
Junior standout Chris Murphy (Winchester, Mass.)
led the Hawks with four goals, while Matt Surette
(Wakefield, Mass.) posted a hat trick. Mike
McClain (Milton, Mass.), Kevin DeBenedetto
(Reading, Mass.) and Steve Trocki (Braintree,
Mass.) each posted a pair of goals. Dan Flynn
(Wakefield, Mass.) picked up five saves to get the
victory. Pat Acone (Bow, N.H.) and Brian
Gerow (Methuen, Mass.) both saw action in net as well for
the Hawks.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 2-1 overall, while Dominican
drops to 0-1 on the season. Saint Anselm is back in action on
Saturday, March 8th as the Hawks host NYIT for a non-league game
beginning at 1 p.m. That game is scheduled to take place at
Manchester West High School in Manchester, N.H.
