Amherst, Mass. (February 15) -- Led by a pair
of goals from Matt Grazioso (Quincy, Mass.), the
Saint Anselm men's hockey team won its third straight game with a
2-1 victory over Amherst on Friday night.
The Hawks got on the board with 19:36 gone in the opening period
when Grazioso scored on the power play for his seventh goal of the
season and 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Lord Jeffs outshot the Hawks by an
18-8 margin, but it was Grazioso that found the back of the net
first with his eighth goal of the season for the eventual game
winner. Will Collins scored for Amherst with just
22 seconds left in the middle stanza to cut the lead to 2-1.
The two teams were nearly even in the third period, but the
Hawks hung on for the road victory behind a spectacular 45-save
evening from netminder Pat Gallagher (Framingham,
Mass.). Cole Anderson made 32 saves in
the loss for the Lord Jeffs.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 8-10-3 overall, while Amherst
fals to 11-7-3 overall on the season. Saint Anselm completes the
