New London, Conn. (December 6)--The Saint
Anselm men's ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with the Camels of
Connecticut College Saturday afternoon at Dayton Arena.
Camels Junior Ryan Howarth (Grand
Blanc,
Mich.) and Trevor Bradley
(West Hartford,
Conn.) each contributed a goal
and an assist. Connecticut College extended their unbeaten streak
to five games in the draw. Sean Driscoll
(Peabody,
Mass.) tallied his third goal of
the season for Connecticut College.
Junior net-minder Greg Parker
(Trenton, Ont.) finished
with 23 saves for the Camels.
Saint Anselm senior Mike Nunzianto
(Guilford,
Conn.) scored the equalizer with
32 seconds to play in regulation. Jim Toomey
(Billerica,
Mass.) had a goal and an assist
for the visitors. Paul Snell
(Groton,
Mass.) tallied two assists for
the Hawks.
Saint Anselm College sophomore goalie Alex Wyse
(Amherst,
N.Y.) stopped 20 shots in the
contest.
Toomey started the scoring, with just over a minute on the clock
in the first period, off a pass from senior Tom Kerwin
(Whitman,
Mass.) and Snell to put the Hawks
up 1-0.
In the second period Bradley notched the equalizer while on the
power play just over four and a half minutes into the second
period.
The Hawks fought back as Brian Hartigan
(Saugus,
Mass.) scored with just over a
minute left in the second period, to give Saint Anselm a 2-1 lead.
With 11:56 remaining in regulation, the hosts scored the
equalizer. Brett Moore
(Medfield,
Mass.) was able to dig a puck out
in the corner. The junior forward hit Driscoll in the slot for a
one-timer to even the score at two.
Later on with 5:04 remaining, the Camels took a 3-2 lead.
Sean Tuohy (Salisbury
Mills, N.Y.) dished to Bradley at the right
point. Bradley connected with Howarth, who rifled home the
22nd goal of his career from the high slot.
The Hawks emptied their net with 61 seconds left in regulation,
and with 32 seconds remaining Nunzianto supplied the equalizer.
Connecticut College will host UMass Dartmouth this Tuesday night
at 7 p.m. in New London. The Hawks will visit New England College
Friday night for a 7 p.m. game.
