Waterbury,
Connecticut (November 1)-The
Saint Anselm women's volleyball went 1-1 against Post University
and Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday evening. The Hawks dropped
their first match of the day to Post 3-0, but hit the court later
in the day to defeat Goldey-Beacom 3-0.
In the loss to Post University, freshmen outside hitter
Charlotte Tencza
(Greenfield,
Mass.) led the way with 12 kills
and pitched in with eight digs. Freshmen setter Rachel
Flaherty (Cold Spring,
N.Y.) notched 21 assists, while
senior defensive specialist Samantha Regan
(Danville,
N.H.) had a team-high 11 digs.
The scores of the match were 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 in favor of Post.
In the victory over Goldey-Beacom, Tencza had an eight kill,
nine dig performance. Freshman middle blocker Stephanie
Mauer (S. Hadley, Mass.)
had eight kills, while Flaherty put up 28 assists. Regan had nine
digs in the Hawks first win since September 13th in a
non-conference victory over Assumption. The scores of the match
were 25-13, 25-19, 25-11.
The split day makes the Hawks record 3-17 on the year. The Hawks
will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, November 2nd, as they will
travel to Saint Michael's for a conference match set to begin at 1
p.m.
