soccer team defeated Assumption College 2-1 to earn the eight seed
in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.
The scoring got started when Greyhound forward Kristina
Gillen (East
Bridgewater,
Mass.) took a pass from junior
midfielder Kelley De Walt
(Londonderry,
N.H.) and beat Hawks goalie
Micaela Smith
(Andover,
Mass.) to make it 1-0 Assumption.
The Hawks fired back with just under ten minutes to play in the
first half when Nuzzo took a pass from midfielder Erika
Sartor (Andover,
Mass.) and beat Greyhound keeper
Lauren Keating
(Nashua,
N.H.) to even the game at 1-1.
In the games 74th minute, the Hawks continued their comeback,
when Pearl stole the ball from the Greyhound defenders and put it
past Keating for the game-winner and a 2-1 final.
Smith had three saves in the first half for the Hawks, while
Saint Anselm goalkeeper Jacqueline Cooney
(Braintree,
Mass.) added a save in the second
half. Keating finished the game with two saves in the loss.
Saint Anselm finished the regular season 6-6-2 in NE-10 play,
while Assumption finishes 4-8-2 in conference play.
The Hawks return to action Sunday, November 2nd, where they will
be the eighth seed and await to see who becomes the number one seed
in the tournament.
