N.H. (October 25)-The Saint
Anselm women's soccer team fell on senior day to the Owls of
Southern Connecticut 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Melucci Field. The
loss drops the Hawks to 5-6-2 in conference play, while the win
improves the Owls to 6-4-2 in NE-10 play.
Before the game started, the Hawks honored the senior class of
Kathleen Kennerly
(Weymouth,
Mass.), Courtney Perkins
(Charlton,
Mass.), Michelle Nuzzo
(Dedham,
Mass.) and Micaela Smith
(Andover,
Mass.).
The first half was kept scoreless by Smith's two saves, and Owls
keeper Katie Didio, with four first-half saves.
The second half was all defense, until the games 86th minute
when Owl midfielder Nicole Burton took a free kick
just outside of the box and passed it to Ashley
Knight who beat Smith to make the game 1-0 Owls.
Mara Primmer added another goal with five seconds
left for the 2-0 final.
Smith finished the game with fives saves, while Didio had six
saves in the victory.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday, October 28th, as they will
host the Greyhounds of Assumption College at 3:30 p.m.
