Manchester, N.H. (October 21)-The Saint Anselm
women's soccer team fell to cross-town rival Southern New Hampshire
University 2-1 Tuesday night at Dr. George J. Larkin Field. The
loss drops the Hawks to 6-8-2 overall and 5-5-2 in NE-10 play,
while the win makes the Penmen 7-4-3 overall, and 6-4-2 in
conference action.
The first half was kept scoreless by Hawk goalie
Jacqueline Cooney
(Braintree,
Mass.) and Penmen keeper
Stef Young.
The Scoring picked up in the second-half when SNHU forward
Alyssa Thayer took a pass from Sophia St.
Paul to beat Cooney and make the game 1-0.
The Hawks fought back as senior Kathleen Kennerly
(Weymouth,
Mass.) took a free-kick just
outside and to the left of the box and bent it in past Young to nod
the game at 1.
SNHU would have the last word as Danielle
Courtemanche stole the ball from the Hawk defenders and
put it in the top left corner for the 2-1 final.
The Hawks return to action Saturday, October 25th, as
they will host Southern Conn. State at Melucci Field at noon.
