Rindge, N.H. (October 1)-The Saint Anselm
women's soccer team fell to Franklin Pierce College by
a 4-0 final on Wednesday night at Sodexho Field. The loss
drops the Hawks to 3-5-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the NE-10, while the
victory improves the Ravens to 6-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in
conference play.
The Ravens, led by Seniors Kristen Cilley
(Belchertown,
Mass.) and Kelly Johnson
(Stamford,
Conn.), each registered a goal
and assist in the first-half that featured all four goals of the
game. Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Brittany Ester
(Toms River,
N.J.) made one second half save to preserve her second
shutout of the season.
For the Hawks, senior goalie Micaela Smith
(Andover,
Mass.) made 2 saves and gave up
no goals in the second-half, while sophomore keeper
Jacqueline Cooney
(Braintree,
Mass.) also made two saves while
giving up four goals in the first half.
Franklin Pierce finished with a 14-2 advantage in shots for the
match, including an 8-0 margin in the opening half.
The Hawks hit the field again on Saturday, October
4th, as they will take on conference rival Saint Rose at
2 p.m. at Melucci Field.
