Hawks Shut Out Johnson & Wales, 3-0

Manchester, N.H. (January 6) -- The Hawks completed a two-game sweep of the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Arena, 3-0. The Hawks beat the Wildcats 6-3 Friday before Sunday afternoon's 3-0 victory. The win improves the Hawks to 4-1-3 overall, while the loss drops the Wildcats to 4-9 overall.

The Hawks outshot Johnson & Wales 15-3 in the first period, but did not find the back of the net until the second period. Paul Snell (Groton, Mass.) scored his third goal in two games to open up the scoring at the 9:40 mark in the second period, assisted by John Hennessey (Westwood, Mass.) and Nick Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.). The Hawks extended the lead to 2-0 as Matt Grazioso (Quincy, Mass.) scored his second goal of the season at the 12:58 mark, and Hennessey picked up his second assist of the afternoon. The Hawks took the 2-0 lead into the third period.

An even battle most of the third period, the Wildcats outshot the Hawks 12-8 in the period. The Wildcats pressured Jason Zuck (Clifton, N.J.) but did not net a goal in the period. Grazioso scored an empty net goal at the 19:53 mark to seal the 3-0 victory for the Hawks, assisted by Chris MacPhee (Windham, N.H.)

Zuck picked up his first shutout of the season in net recording 20 saves, while Charlie Bacon (Hudson, Mass.) played well in net in the loss, making 34 saves for the Wildcats.

The Hawks return to Northeast-10 action Wednesday, January 9th, traveling to Franklin Pierce for a 7 p.m. start
