Polar Bears Defeat Hawks, 4-1

Brunswick, Maine (January 12) - The men's hockey team dropped a 4-1 final to 15th-ranked Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Bowdoin's Sid Watson Ice Arena. The Hawks drop to 5-3-3, 3-3-3 in league play, while the Polar Bears improved to 9-2-0, 5-2-0 in league play.

The Hawks jumped on the board first on the power play, when Mike Foley (Medford, Mass.) scored at the 8:02 mark, assisted by Shane Masotta (Woburn, Mass.) and Colin Fitzpatrick (Westwood, Mass.). The Polar Bears responded quickly when Mike Corbelle scored at the 10:20 mark, assisted by Thomas Herd and Sebastien Belanger. The game went into the first intermission knotted at one.

The Polar Bears capitalized on a Hawks' mistake, scoring short-handed, as Ryan Leary scored his 13th goal of the season, assisted by Ryan Blossom. Bowdoin took the 2-1 lead into the third.

The Polar Bears picked up two more goals to polish off the 4-1 win. Kyle Shearer-Hardy scored at the 5:24 mark, assisted by Mitch Dillon and Mike Westerman. Herd picked up a goal of his own at the 16:35 mark, assisted by Shearer-Hardy.

The Hawks return to the ice Friday, January 18th, traveling to Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. start.
