Worcester, Mass. (September 8) -- The Saint
Anselm women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 final at Assumption on
Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.
Assumption jumped out to a quick 2-0 edge in the first 14
minutes of play with a pair of goals from Meghan
Cienava before Saint Anselm's Kathleen Kennerley
(Weymouth, Mass.) trimmed the deficit to 2-1 at the 39:54
mark with her second goal of the season. Saint Anselm outshot the
Greyhounds by a 6-4 margin in the second half, but were unable to
net the equalizer.
Jacqueline Cooney (Braintree, Mass.) made four
saves in the loss, while Lauren Matysiak turned
aside eight shots for the win.
The Hawks are now 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Northeast-10 play.
Saint Anselm is back in action on Wednesday, September 12th when
the Hawks host Southern New Hampshire beginning at 4 p.m.
