Schenectady, N.Y. (September 29) -- The men's
soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest to Saint Rose Saturday afternoon
at Saint Rose. Saint Rose picked up their first win of the
season improving to 1-8-1, 1-5-1 Northeast-10. The loss drops
the Hawks to 4-6-1, 2-5-0 Northeast-10.
Saint Rose jumped on the board early, as Todd
Driscoll scored on a direct kick in the fifth minute from
35 yards out, finding the top right corner of the net.
Driscoll added a second goal at the 37:22 mark, assisted by
Gavin DuGuay, to extend Saint Rose's lead to
2-0 at the half.
The Hawks responded late in the second half when Richard
Simmonds (Hooksett, N.H.) scored in the 88th minute off a
rebound. The Hawks were unable to net an equalizer, leaving
the final score 2-1 in favor of Saint Rose.
The Hawks return to the field traveling to Franklin Pierce next
Saturday, October 6 for a 1:00 p.m. start.
