Manchester, N.H. (October 6) -- The men's
soccer team scored three goals in Saturday's game against No. 10
Franklin Pierce, but Franklin Pierce's offense exploded for six
goals. The 6-3 loss drops the Hawks to 4-7-1 overall, 2-6-0
Northeast-10, while the win improves Franklin Pierce to 9-1-2,
8-0-1 in league play.
The Hawks jumped on the board first as Tyler Sangster
(Duxbury, Mass.) scored 53 seconds into the game assisted
by Sam Lamptey (Worcester, Mass.).
The score remained 1-0 until Franklin Pierce's offense lit up
the scoreboard for four goals throughout the first half.
David Clifton scored at the 19:34 mark, assisted
by Johan Torstensson, and then Clifton added his
second goal of the game just under four minutes later at the
24:19 mark. Frantz Francois scored at the
29:20 mark, assisted by Torstensson, and then Marek
Hawrylik scored off a Mike
Lima corner at the 35:14 mark. Franklin
Pierce went into halftime with a 4-1 lead.
The Ravens scored quickly into the second half, as
Bisharra Ettienne scored off a Michel
Vitulano corner kick at the 48:25 mark. David
Clifton added his third goal of the game when Hawk goaltender
John Corridan (Holliston, Mass.) made the initial
save, but did not recover. Clifton put home his own
rebound, making the score 6-1.
The Hawks refused to give up, as a Franklin Pierce defender took
down Sam Lamptey inside the penalty area, awarding Lamptey a
penalty kick at the 50:07 mark. Lamptey converted, bringing
the score to 6-2. William MacDonald (Weymouth,
Mass.) scored his first goal of the season at the 79:11
mark making the score 6-3.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday, October 10, traveling to
UMass Lowell for a 4:00 start.
