Smithfield, R.I. (September 25) -- The men's
soccer team fell to Bryant 3-2 in double overtime Tuesday evening
at Bryant. The loss drops the Hawks to 4-5-1 overall, 2-4
Northeast-10, while the win improves Bryant to 7-3-0 overall, 4-3-0
Northeast-10.
The Hawks opened scoring in the 37th minute, as Anthony
Galluzzo (Londonderry, N.H.) found the back of the net,
assisted by Tyler Waldrupe (Manchester,
N.H.). The Hawks took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Bryant tied the game early into the second half, as Ryan
Aspinall scored at the 46:25 mark, assisted by
Nick Balisterri.
The Hawks took back the lead, when Tim Hubbard
(Marshfield, Mass.) scored at the 63:21 mark, assisted by
Sam Lamptey (Worcester, Mass.).
Bryant scored late in the second half to knot the score at 2-2.
Matthew Brown netted the goal in the 83rd minute
off a Nick Balisterri corner kick.
After a first overtime which saw no goals, Bryant ended the game
only 42 seconds into the second overtime, as Manny
Rodriguez netted the game winner.
The Hawks return to the field on Saturday, September 29,
traveling to Saint Rose for a 1:00 p.m. game.
