Manchester, N.H. (October 20) -- Freshman
Jennifer Pearl (Stoughton, Mass.) scored the
game-winning goal in the second half to lift Saint Anselm to a 2-1
win over Pace University in Northeast-10 women's soccer action.
Saint Anselm took an early 1-0 lead at the 14:12 mark when
Michelle Nuzzo (Dedham, Mass.) fired in a shot off
the crossbar and into the net for her first goal of the season.
After Pace tied the game on a goal by junior Tiffany
Robinson (Shelton, Conn.) at 22:34, Pearl scored her first
game-winning score of the season just 1:20 into the second half.
Freshman Jacqueline Cooney (Braintree, Mass.)
made one saves to pick up the win, while Alexa DAgostino
(Highland Mills, N.Y.) turned aside six shots for the
Setters in the loss.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 9-7-3 overall and 6-5-3 in
the Northeast-10, while Pace falls to 4-11-2 and 1-10-2
in league play. Saint Anselm now awaits the pairings for the
upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
