Manchester, N.H. (October 16) -- The men's
soccer team dropped a 4-1 contest to American International on a
brisk Tuesday afternoon at Melucci Field. The loss drops the
Hawks to 5-9-1 overall, 3-8 Northeast-10, while the win improves
American International to 4-9-3, 4-7-1 in league play.
American International struck quickly into the match.
Sean Stevenson (Holyoke, Mass.) headed in a
Leonardo Santos (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) cross at
the 2:23 mark to give the Yellow Jackets an early 1-0 lead.
The Hawks bounced back to tie the game 1-1 at the 40:34 mark, as
Jeff Dell'Orfano (No. Andover, Mass.) picked up a
loose rebound and scored. The match went into the half 1-1.
American International came out strong in the second half
scoring three goals. Ricky Morris (Victoria,
Grenada) scored a breakaway goal at the 61:30 mark off a
pass from James Davidson (Ottawa, Ontario), making
the score 2-1. Chris Charles (Brooklyn,
N.Y.) netted his sixth goal of the season in the 81st
minute, assisted by Sean Stevenson, and Bernard Kessie
(Worcester, Mass.) added a late penalty kick goal at the
88:15 mark, sealing the 4-1 victory for American International.
The Hawks return to the pitch Saturday, October 20, traveling to
Le Moyne for an 11:00 a.m. start.
