Manchester, N.H. (October 11) -- On a rainy
Melucci Field on Thursday afternoon, the Saint Anselm women's
soccer team evened its record at .500 with a 1-0
non-conference win over Caldwell College.
Saint Anselm held a 20-4 advantage in total shots, but Caldwell
netminder Lauren Hoenig (Howell, N.J.) kept the
game scoreless late into the game with a 10-save afternoon. The
game appeared to be headed to overtime before Saint Anselm junior
Courtney Perkins (Charlton, Mass.) scored her
first goal of the season from 25 yards out to lift the Hawks to
victory. The goal was assisted on by freshman Kelly Cox
(Lynnfield, Mass.).
Saint Anselm junior goalie Micaela Smith (Andover,
Mass.) made two saves to pick up the victory.
The Hawks are now 7-7-2 overall on the season and remain 4-5-2
in the Northeast-10, while Caldwell drops to 4-9-0 overall. Saint
Anselm is back in action on Saturday at Noon when the team travels
to Le Moyne for a Northeast-10 game in Syracuse, N.Y.
